Chi's Posters/Discography Additions
Tuesday 1st March 2011

The amazing collection of posters that Chi Fukami Taylor was kind enough to give me after Saturday night's gig in Leicester has now been added to the Memorabilia page. I really can't thank Chi enough for these - please check them out here.

There's also a few additions to the discography - the Hong Kong/Asia CD version of Rolling Blackouts on Love Records here and a collection of signed copies of the US and UK versions of Buy Nothing Day 7" here.

The Go! Team & The Flaming Lips @ The Eden Project
Wednesday 2nd March 2011

The Go! Team will be rekindling their acquaintance with The Flaming Lips at Cornwall's jaw-dropping Eden Project site, for a gig there on the 30th of June. Further info here.

East Village Radio Session
Thursday 3rd March 2011

The Go! Team's session for the Mike Joyce show on EVR aired today. The band were interviewed and played T.O.R.N.A.D.O. and Apollo Throwdown. Really sound versions of both - great stuff. The show should be available to listen again here.

Back Like 07 Tracks
Saturday 5th March 2011

While the Oya Festival gig from August 2007 has been on-line for some time now, through the festival website, these things have a habit of disappearing when you're least expecting it. Anyway, thanks to Mike Courteau, this gig now has a permanent home on Vimeo here along with the band's excellent live performance of Doing It Right from the the UK's Album Chart Show in the same year. Many thanks to Mike for all his efforts in the above.

There's a few updates to the site worth mentioning: Firstly there's a new Go! Team Fan Art page under the Memorabilia section here. Thanks particularly to Marcel O'Leary, Brianne Drouhard and August Krater for recent contributions (and the above from the excellent FlipFlopFlyin' website) that prompted me to sort this out. Secondly (as we're still very much in a poster frame of mind) there's a couple of new ones added to the Posters page, again under the Memorabilia section here. I also recently tracked down a promo copy of the YumiYumi album (Kaori's pre-GT band) - details of which are here. I can't recommend the album enough - well worth checking out. And lastly - pregnant Barbie dolls, Batmobile Smart Cars and erm... Nutella. It can only be the very welcome insanity that is Ninja's blog site. Never a dull moment here.

No Sleep 'Till Brooklyn
Sunday 8th March 2011

Well that's the general idea. Several fortunate circumstances arising at the same time, alongside The Go! Team playing the best gigs I've ever seen them do, last month, has resulted in a one-off dream come true. I'm doing the east coast leg of their US tour in April kicking off at the Bowery Ballroom  on the 12th of April and running through Washington, Philadelphia, Boston and finishing in Brooklyn on the 16th. Flights, Amtrak, hotels (and friends' spare rooms) all booked. Feeling very, very lucky right now.

If any TF readers are going to any of these five show and would like to meet up for a beer or just a quick hello, please drop us an e-mail. I'm meeting  a couple of NY friends at the Bowery show already, but I'm always up for meeting fellow Go! Team fans so please get in touch, even for this show.

Lastly, apart from NYC which I know well, the other cities are new to me. So if anyone has any suggestion on good things to do and places to eat (high priority that one!) I'd welcome any advice. Cheers.

New Festival Dates
Monday 9th March 2011

Two new festival dates have been announced by the band today - Y Not in Derbyshire, UK and Omas Teich in Germany. Check out the info links on your right for details.

Two Versions of Flashlight Fight?
Tuesday 8th March 2011

Apparently so - thanks to the expert ears of Mike Courteau. The key noticeable difference is in the backing girl chant-spelling that comes in at around 1 minute and 39 seconds. It is difficult to describe without actually hearing the two tracks back to back - but they are distinctly different. The words being spelled out (around the spelling of 'freedom' I think) definitely differ from one another.

Having been through my nine Proof of Youth CDs (yes, I really am that sad) the UK single and double, Japanese, Australian, European and Canadian releases contain one version and the US Double,  Korean and Russian CDs contain the other version. Make of it what you will - but would love to know what's behind it. Either way - well done Mike!

Flashlight Fight : Round 2
Thursday 10th March 2011

I've had a whole bunch of e-mails today (thanks all) confirming the two different versions/mixes of Flashlight Fight. Having checked the US and UK promo CDs of the album they both contain the 'regular' version as do both the UK and US vinyl versions (thanks August for clarifying). So the version  with the 'jumbled-up' spelling of 'FREEDOM' is confined, it would seem, to the US (double), Korean and Russian CD releases. Lots of theories knocking around as to the reasons for the two different versions. If I find out anything I'll let you know.

Major Festival Dates + European Tour Kicks Off
Thursday 10th March 2011

The Go! Team will be playing the Benicassim Festival in Spain on the 17th of July and the Electric Picnic Festival in Ireland between the 2nd and 4th of September (the exact date of the band's appearance is to be confirmed). And a quick reminder that the The Go! Team's 16-date European Tour starts in Düsseldorf tonight. Kaori's excellent blog site 'What Goes Around Comes Around' is a great place to follow the band's on tour antics. Check it out here.

Japan
Saturday 12th March 2011

Lots of love and best wishes to Chi, Kaori and their families and friends.

Apollo Throwdown Video & Remix
Sunday 13th March 2011

The band's video for Apollo Throwdown, featuring Dominique Unique, is now available - check it out on their video page here. The Star Slinger  remix is also out here.  And talking of  unique - check out this 'interview' with Ian and Ninja on The Whiteboard Project site.

Morning Becomes Eclectic Sessions/Early Photos
Monday 14th March 2011

Thanks (once again!) to Mike Courteau for providing permanent homes for two more videos, namely the Morning Becomes Eclectic sessions the band recorded in 2006 and 2007 for KCRW in the US here and here - and also for tracking down some early photos of the band playing in New York in March 2005 here. Cheers Mike.

Go! To The Movies
Wednesday 16th March 2011

Following on from the 'Go! Team Poster in Scott Pilgrim' surprise a few weeks back, Ollie at Memphis Industries mentioned to me that there was also one in the Keanu Reeves remake of 'The Day The Earth Stood Still'. Normally wild horses couldn't drag me to such a movie, but curiosity got the better of me and thankfully the above scene turned up fairly early on. Curiously it's the same poster that features in 'Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist'. Either that or it's a stunt double.

Site Updates
Sunday 20th March 2011

While Europe gets the Team treatment this month it's all gone a  bit quiet around these parts, so I've finally got round to updating a few bits of the site.  Firstly, complete scans of both vinyl versions of Rolling Blackouts (the UK white vinyl and US black vinyl pressings) have now been added to the discography. Thanks to August Krater for scans of  the front covers and labels. Check them both out via the Vinyl Albums section of the Discography here. And many thanks to the chaps at Memphis for sorting us out a copy of the Korean CD on the Beatball label which comes with four extra tracks - Headache In My Heart and three remixes - Buy Nothing Day (Chad Valley), Apollo Throwdown (Star Slinger) and Voice Yr Choice (Tobacco) - all of which are absolutely  ace. Check out details of the CD and some scans of the release via the CD Albums page here (the Korean CD is the last album listed on this page). As with all the items in the discography click the sleeves for further images of each one. There's also a few new posters added to the Posters page here and a bunch of newish online-interviews from various sources here.

Japan Tsunami Charity Event
Thursday 24th March 2011

Many thanks to Kaori for information regarding a forthcoming 'We ♥ Japan!' charity event to be held at The Macbeth in Hoxton, London on Sunday 3 April. Jon Carter, The Go! Team and The Horrors, amongst many others, will be DJing at the event. Log in to Facebook and check out the event page for further information here or go to The Macbeth's website here.

Kaori's Tour Blog
Sunday 27th March 2011

Kaori is continuing to provide us with a fantastic on the road/behind the scenes stylee account of the band's ongoing European tour. Check out her blog site here.

Electric Picnic Date Confirmed
Monday 28th March 2011

We knew they were playing - we just didn't know which day. Now we do: Sunday 4th September. Click on the poster to have it large.

Hey Ho - Let's Go!
Tuesday 29th March 2011

At last! It's been bugging me for months. 'Great minds...' and all that (not that I'm putting myself in that category). Good job 'Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention' never had the same idea for a photo shoot.

The Go! Team Record Store Day 12"
Wednesday 30th March 2011

Here's a sneak peek at what we believe to be the sleeve to The Go! Team's exclusive Record Store Day 12" featuring remixes of Apollo Throwdown and Voice Yr Choice. According to the RSD site the 12" will be limited to just 500 copies. Check out the tracklisting here. Record Store Day is on Saturday 16th April. Start queuing about now.
