Site Updates
Wednesday 1st June 2011

End of the month updates. Firstly video whiz-kid Mike Courteau has overlaid the original version of Milk Crisis over the video for the re-recorded version, to splendid effect. Check it out here. On the discography front there's a few additions - the Australian CD version of Rolling Blackouts has turned up- not hugely exciting (except for me perhaps) as the only difference is the Shock Records logo and catalogue number - but we have to keep things complete around here. I also discovered (somewhat late in the day) what I think is the only remix of 'Hotdog', one of two Simian Mobile Disco tracks that Ninja raps on, dating back to 2008. It's the
Cosmo Vitelli Remix on a promo CD and 12" single and it's pretty good. Check out the items here and you can check out the track itself here.  I also thought it was about time  to collate the many versions/remixes and formats of Simian Mobile Disco's 'It's The Beat' single featuring Ninja - all 19 versions to be precise! The whole lot can be found here.

Thank You Chi...
Sunday 5th June 2011

Chi Fukami Taylor has, once again, been incredibly kind by picking me up some more posters from the band's Australian and Japanese tours last month together with a lovely unique Japanese tour T-Shirt. Check out the posters on Chi's dedicated poster page here and the T-Shirt on the merchandise page here. A big 'thank you' salute heading Chi's way as we speak.

Piknik in Poland
Monday 6th June 2011

The Go! Team (unofficially, so far) are down to be playing the Piknik Kulturalny Festival in Warsaw, Poland next weekend (the 11th possibly?). This is the same festival which the band were unable to play last year following torrential rain that took-out the sound desk, so top marks to them for returning again this year. Check out Last FM for info and keep an eye on official sources for confirmation.

New Festival Dates Confirmed
Monday 6th June 2011

The band have added two new festival dates to their summer schedule:
11 J
une - Gazeta Wyborcza Picnic, Warsaw, Poland
30 July   -
Storass Festival, Trondheim, Norway
And no sign of The Kings of Leon at either. Result!

New Festival Date/Australian Live Photos
Wednesday 8th June 2011

Firstly many thanks to photographer Lisa Businovski for getting in touch and pointing me in the direction of a link to a collection of fab live shots she took of the band playing at The Bakery in Perth on the 13th of May - go check 'em out here. Thanks Lisa! The band have also added another festival date - Pukkelpop in Belgium on the 18th of August - link here.

Lisa Businovski Photos
Thursday 9th June 2011

Photographer Lisa Businovski has kindly given permission to include her excellent photos, from the band's recent gig in Perth, in the Gallery section of this site. They're a fantastic addition and I'm very grateful to her for the contribution. Please check them out here

Go! Team Fan Art (& Chocolates!)
Friday 10th June 2011

While in Japan the band were presented with a really unique gift of some lovely fan art from a girl named Maguro. This consisted of an illustration of the band (above), drawn by Maguro,  and a set of chocolates - the wrappers of which included her illustration and the artwork for Rolling Blackouts. Amazing stuff! Chi acquired an extra set which she has very kindly passed on to me  - so, thank you Chi - and thank you Maguro! I've included them in the Fan Art page of the Memorabilia section but check them all out
here. Please also check out Maguro's website featuring many of her other excellent illustrations at http://goldenlion.moo.jp/.

Let's Go! To The Hop
Monday 13th June 2011

Prince may be headlining but the real royalty will be found elsewhere:
The Go! Team - Hop Farm Festival, Tonbridge, Kent, UK - 3 July.

Let's Go! To The Slottsfjell
Wednesday 15th June 2011

Nope - doesn't quite work does it.  I'm sure it will on the day:
The Go! Team - Slottsfjell Festival, Tonsberg, Norway - 15 July.

Add Yr Voice To The Sound Of The Cloud
Friday 17th June 2011

The Go! Team have added a bunch of free downloadable remixes to SoundCloud today including the very splendid Ruby Suns remix of Voice Yr Choice. Rolling Remixes here.

Essential Logic
Saturday 18th June 2011

The timing of the release of The Go! Team's iTunes Essentials compilation this week here makes perfect sense. The band have just kicked off a 19 date season of festival appearances and it follows that, once again, a load of people will be seeing them for the first time and undoubtedly new fans will be made. If you are one of those people and you've found your way here - welcome! The iTunes compilation is a great place to start - but really all three studio albums shown at the top of this page are 'essential' listening, as are the myriad of singles, b-sides, radio sessions  and other non-album tracks The Go! Team have recorded over the last ten years. For further details on all releases please check out the Discography section here and for individual track info go here.

I wouldn't be so presumptuous as to recommend my own 15 track 'Essentials' list (actually, it'd just be darn impossible) but if I could suggest one track that hasn't made the compilation, it would have to be 'Templates From Home' - a sublime and ingenious bit of song writing originating from an unlikely source and recorded for a good cause. Probably my favourite Go! Team track ever and I can't help feeling it's been overlooked somewhat, since its release in 2008. For further information on the song go here and (for the time being) check out a little video for it here

Paris 2011 Homeless World Cup Ad
Monday 20th June 2011

Great ad for this year's Homeless World Cup featuring  The Go! Team's 'The Running Range' - watch it here.

Ready To Go Single
Wednesday 22nd June 2011

Well, sort of. The band have announced they're releasing a four track download EP on the 25th of July featuring Ready To Go Steady, Voice Yr Choice Remixes by The Ruby Suns and TOBACCO and a remix of Buy Nothing Day by The Lost Boys. For the official info go here. There's also a one track promo CD single doing the rounds - check it out here.

Field Music
Thursday 23rd June 2011

A very big Go! Team festival weekend kicks off tomorrow (Friday) in Paris at the Solidays Festival, followed by Sea Sessions in Ireland on Saturday and culminating in their third Glastonbury appearance in six years on Sunday. The band are playing at around 6.30pm on the West Holts Stage - not sure if the BBC or its interactive service in the UK will be broadcasting any of their performance as they did in 2007, but I'll be glued to the TV all evening with fingers crossed. Wishing the band and festival go!-ers a splendid weekend...

Glastonbury 2011 - Update 26 June #2
Sunday 26th June 2011

Update #2  - 8.50pm: The Go! Team's live Glastonbury set is up within the next half hour or so, on screen 2 of the BBC's interactive red button service, following Bombay Bicycle Club. Not that we've been waiting for it or anything.

Update: According to the band it sounds as though their set will be broadcast on BBC's 'red button' interactive service via BBC2 & 3 in the UK this evening. Also, looking around the BBC's Glastonbury site here, there are selected performances from many bands recorded over the weekend, so worth keeping an eye out if you can't get the interactive service.

BBC Glasto Coverage
Sunday 26th June 2011

Was it really four years ago since they last played Glastonbury? Always fantastic to see The Go! Team on TV - the BBC broadcast ten songs tonight from what appeared to be a scorching final night of the festival. Tracks aired were:

T.O.R.N.A.D.O.
Grip Like A Vice
Voice Yr Choice
Secretary Song
Ladyflash
The Running Range
Huddle Forrmation
The Power Is On

How Ninja managed to balance on those flowers I'll never know. See if you can work it out by watching the BBC's coverage of The Go! Team, from their Glastonbury appearance yesterday, here. (Photo courtesy of the BBC).

Festivals Cont'd
Wednesday 29th June 2011

This week sees The Go! Team playing some more great and unique festivals/locations. Tomorrow night they rekindle their acquaintance with The Flaming Lips for a show at the amazing Eden Project in Cornwall. That's  followed by a trip to Guernsey on Saturday to play the island's Performing Arts Festival before they return to the UK mainland for a show at  one of the larger unbranded/unsponsored events on the festival calendar, Hop Farm in Kent on Sunday, on a bill that includes headliner Prince. Click on the posters above for a better look.

Industrial Revolutions
Wednesday 30th June 2011

Memphis Industries has been making records for 13 years. To mark the occaision the label is throwing a birthday bash at Koko in London on the 30th of November with live sets from four of its esteemed roster - Colourmusic, Dutch Uncles, Field Music and, of course, The Go! Team. Tickets for 'Lucky 13'  go on sale on Friday 1st July at 10am here. It's worth noting that, according to the band's news letter here, this show replaces the Coronet gig planned for the 30th of September. So if you've already bought Coronet tickets they are valid for Koko. Refunds are apparently available if you can't make it to the November show.
