Thanks to everyone who has given me advice on stuff to do in Philly and
Boston on my trip to see the Go! Team in the US next week. Really
appreciated. And particular thanks to Al Baker for your kind offer of
accommodation/hospitality.
And last but not least our best wishes to Chi Fukami Taylor for a speedy
recovery following a backstage accident while on tour in Spain last
week, that resulted in five stitches to a head wound (and quite a bit of blood,
judging by her Twitter photos). Hope you're on the mend Chi!

Team America
Friday 8th April

I'm extremely fortunate to be going to the US on Sunday to
follow The Go! Team for a week on their American tour. I'm doing the
east coast dates - New York, DC,
Philly, Boston & Brooklyn. Subsequently Titanic Fandalism will be
closing down temporarily from today until the 18th of April. I will try and tweet
from time to time and will no doubt go into full-on gush mode on my
return. Until then, don't forget Record Store Day on the 16th and, if
you're going to any of the east coast dates and spot a bearded
middle-aged bloke in a brown suede jacket, getting the words wrong and
dancing really badly - please come and say hello.
Until then...goodbye.
East Coast Tour - Thanks
Monday 18th April

Had are a really terrific six days in the US last week - going to take me
while to get my head around it and I'll be adding in bits of
memorabilia, set lists, diary entries etc over the next few days. But
more importantly than that (and at the risk of sounding like Gwyneth
Paltrow's Oscar Speech) there's a bunch of people I need to say a very
big thank you to, who really helped me out with this trip. Firstly my
family and friends - although I paid for most of the trip myself, a lot
of folks gave me some funds towards the tour instead of birthday
presents - so thanks to Jo, Ethan, Aby, Mick, Mum, James, Heather, Mia,
Kris, Andy, Cheryl, Len, Sue and Neal - really appreciated. Secondly
thanks to Yarrow, Roy and David in New Jersey for your lovely
hospitality and Stephen D who works for the airline I flew out with -
not only for getting me a great price for the flight but the upgrade to
business class going out and the first class upgrade coming back (may
have to post a few posey photos on that one later in the week - couldn't
believe it!). Thank you, of course, to The Go! Team for five fantastic
shows, to Chi for being so thoughtful and accommodating so often, to
Tommy, the band's sound man, for more top-notch audio every night and
for looking after my rucksack at the Brooklyn Bowl - and to the chaps at
Memphis for sorting things out. A big thank you also to the management
and staff at the Brooklyn Bowl and the 9.30 Club in DC for their help
when really needed - and to Massoud at the 9.30 for the poster - much
appreciated. Hats off to Amtrak and its staff too - excellent stuff.
More stuff from the tour later...
News & Stuff
Monday 18th April
As I'm sure you're already aware the band will be playing the West Holts
Stage at Glastonbury this year on Sunday 26 June and also that the
Record Store Day Remixes 12" came out last Saturday in lovely blue wax.
Should have some proper photos by the end of the week but
here's a pic of the disc.
Further to today's earlier post (see below) there's a few photos from the east coast
tour
here plus check out the posters, passes,
stage times
and tickets pages of the Memorabilia section
here
for a few additions under each.
Radio-wise the band are doing a couple more 'takeovers' - BBC 6 Music on
Sunday 24 April at 8pm (UK time) and YNOT Radio in the US on 21
April at 3pm (US East Coast time). There's also a nice on-line
interview with Ninja
here.
For those who are interested, I'm gonna start writing up my diary for
the five US gigs later today so keep an eye on the Diary page
here
throughout the week.
New Festival Date/Go! Team Mix Tape/Unofficial Remix
Tuesday 19th April
2011

The band have announced a new
festival date today - Ignition in Newcastle on the 6th of August.
Details
here. They've also put together a
lovely downloadable mix tape for Check Yo' Ponytail ahead of their club
gig there at Echoplex in LA tonight - go get it
here -
well worth it.
Thanks to skip128 for another
unofficial remix find:
Brigade & Yellow (Wiz Khalifa vs The Go! Team) on YouTube
here.
And finally got round to watching 'Whip It' today (the Drew Barrymore
directed movie) - or rather the ten minutes at the end that included
both Doing It Right and The Power Is On. Shall be going to buy a pair of
roller-skates first thing tomorrow.

The Go! Team on Fuel TV
Tuesday 26th April
2011
The Go! Team's live performance of T.O.R.N.A.D.O. for Fuel TV in the US
is now on YouTube
here. Keep an eye on the Fuel site as,
according to the band's official site, a live version of The Power Is On
is on the cards later tonight.
Checking out the Fuel TV music page, I was moved to see that the
extremely sad news of the death of Poly Styrene had been covered in the
US as well as being given deserved coverage on the BBC (here) and in other
media in the UK as well as on the net. X-Ray Spex, alongside Siouxsie and the
Banshees were my introduction to music. Germ Free Adolescents was the
first album I ever bought, in 1978, and I love it as much today as I did
then. Alongside The Slits and the Banshees, X-Ray Spex not only
re-shaped the music scene in the late 70s but also the way in which
female singers and musicians were represented in bands. It's so sad
that Ari Up and Poly Styrene are no longer with us. I'm very happy that
their spirit and legacy live on.
Fuel Power
Thursday 28th April
2011
As announced previously on The Go! Team's official site, alongside
T.O.R.N.A.D.O. the band performed The Power Is On for Fuel TV in the US
during their recent tour there. Check it out
here. And on the subject of the US tour
- a very big thank you to Jamie and Chi for looking after and bringing
back my Record Store Day Remixes 12" from the States and to the band for
signing it. Thanks folks.
More Posters From Chi...
Thursday 28th April
2011

Chi from the band has, once again, been very thoughtful and generous by
collecting for me a further nine posters from her recent tours in Europe
and the US and also giving me another poster dating back to 2005. I have added them to her own,
dedicated posters' page in the Memorabilia Section
here.
They're a really fantastic addition to the site as well as to my own
collection. Thanks again Chi - you're a star!
Apollo Throwdown
(Remixes) Download EP
Friday 29th April
2011

There's a four track download-only EP on iTunes in the UK at the moment:
Apollo Throwdown (Remixes) - which includes the original version, the
Star Slinger and D/R/U/G/S remixes and, crucially, an instrumental
version of the title track that, to my knowledge, has not been released
elsewhere. And all for a cheeky £1.29. The perfect wedding gift. Linkage
here.
Australian Tour/Propaganda Festival
Saturday 30th April
2011

The band's nine-date Australian tour kicks off today - a mix of their
own club dates and as part of the travelling Groovin The Moo Festival.
Click on the posters above for further info. Anyone going fancy
reviewing a show for this site? If so please drop us an email at
pooh@titanicfandalism.co.uk. Cheers.
And,
although officially unconfirmed, it appears that The Go! Team are
playing the Popaganda Festival in Stockholm this August. Check out the
link here
and keep an eye on the band's own sites for updates.
